16th International Symposium on Agricultural Biocatalysis and Biotechnology. Nov. 9-11, 2022, Taichung, Taiwan Organizer: Shyi-Dong Yeh

2022-11-18

Biocatalysis uses enzymes, microorganisms, or cells as catalysts to produce functional foods, functional resources, biofuel, etc. Biocatalysts have the advantages of high specificity, efficiency conservation, and reducing pollution. It is increasingly important in agriculture, industry, and medical applications. Modern biotechnologies, such as genetic manipulation, protein engineering, and nanobiotechnology, have greatly improved biocatalytic reactions and broadened their applications, especially for agricultural biotechnology.
The 16th ISBAB intends to create a forum for all scientists majoring in biocatalysis and agricultural biotechnology, and related research fields. The central theme of the 16th ISBAB symposium focuses on Biocatalysis and Bioprocesses, Agricultural Biotechnology, Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals, and Traditional and Complementary Medicine.
Considering the quarantine policy (7 days of self-health management for Taiwan now), the meeting proceeds as in-person participation and virtually online. In this symposium, we have 5 keynote speakers, 55 distinguished scientists, and more than 380 participants from Austria, Canada, Germany, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Saudi Arabic, Slovak Republic, United Kingdom, United States, and Taiwan, who have participated online or gathered on-site to share their most valuable research advances with all participants. This is an excellent opportunity for brainstorming and networking.
Special thanks are delivered to Taiwan Niu-Chang-Chih (Antrodia Cinnamomea) Industry Association and Taiwan Association for Traditional and Complementary Medicine as co-organizers to encourage their members to join this symposium. Importantly, we sincerely thank all the funding agencies/sponsors, including National Chung Hsing University, Academia Sinica, National Science and Technology Council, Ministry of Education, and several Companies, for their financial support. We also heartedly thank the organizing committee members, colleagues, and students in the Department of Plant Pathology, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, College and Life Sciences, and the Biotechnology Center, NCHU, for their tremendous efforts in making this symposium possible.

To encourage the young scientists to share their research work, we also ran an oral/poster presentation competitions at 16th ISBAB. Among over 99 oral/poster presentations, following recipients were selected and awarded.
